The Dutch/Flemish classification society VOC, which stands for: Vereniging voor Ordinatie en Classificatie, was founded January 13, 1989. Since June 28, 1989, the VOC is a member of the International Federation of Classification Societies (IFCS).
The main goals of the VOC are:
- Promotion of communication and collaboration to those who are scientifically interested in the use, development, and application of ordination and classification methods.
- To be a society with members from various scientific disciplines and actively stimulate the cross-disciplinary use and spread of classification and ordination knowledge in The Netherlands and Belgium.
Activities of the VOC
- The society organizes two scientific meetings per year. These meetings are usually held in the Autumn and Spring.
- The VOC publishes, twice a year, a newsletter for its members.
- The VOC maintains contacts with the International Federation of Classification Societies as well as with Dutch related societies such as the Vereniging voor Statistiek (VVS).
Organization:
The VOC board currently consists of six persons. The board members are elected by the VOC members for a period of 3 years. The elections are held during the general assembly which is held annually during the spring meeting. For the current term, the board members are:
